About the course

Emergency Medicine in India is a rapidly growing specialty, and its importance is amplified by the increasing burden of acute illnesses and injuries on the country's healthcare system. With a reported shortfall of at least 130,000 emergency medicine specialists, the need for well-trained professionals has never been more pressing.

The Master of Emergency Medicine (MEM) program, in collaboration with George Washington University (GWU), offers a distinctive opportunity for doctors to elevate their expertise while earning a globally recognized degree. This 3-year post-graduate program is designed to equip medical professionals with in-depth knowledge and practical skills through a structured curriculum focused on specific clinical topics and procedures each month. The program includes case-based, evidence-driven learning led by both in-house faculty and distinguished experts from the Ronald Reagan Institute of Emergency Medicine, USA.

The curriculum comprises didactic presentations, journal club article reviews, simulation exercises, guest lectures, and online educational resources, all aimed at enhancing the learning experience. Hands-on clinical training in emergency departments, along with rotations in key clinical services, ensures that participants gain proficiency in core emergency medicine topics. Additionally, select participants will have the opportunity to undertake observerships at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., allowing them to further broaden their practical experience and expertise.

The MEM-GWU program opens up exciting career prospects for passionate doctors, whether they aspire to work in hospital emergency departments, or in specialized sectors such as naval and aviation medicine, where advanced emergency care skills are in high demand.
