One of the most common cardiac surgeries is coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG). CABG surgery helps to restore the normal blood flow to the heart. In simple terms beating heart CABG refers to the bypass surgery that occurs while the heart is still beating. There is no requirement for a heart-lung machine during bypass surgery. In the case of a conventional CABG, a heart-lung machine is used to replace the function of the lungs and heart. Beating CABG has proven to reduce side effects in certain types of patients.
