Acute myocardial infarction can be described as a heart attack due to irreversible damage to the heart muscles because of prolonged loss of oxygen (ischemia). This is usually due to blockages in the blood vessels. This procedure is to be done as soon as the symptoms of a heart attack are detected(within 30 minutes to -1 hour). During the procedure, a stent(balloon) is placed in the cardiac artery to remove the blockage.
