A Doppler study is done to check the adequate blood supply to any part when there is a questionable pulse in any part of the body. A Doppler machine is used to conduct the test, which is done before most major surgeries to check the blood supply. It also helps to diagnose diseases like diabetic foot ulcers or peripheral arterial disease. In addition, a Doppler study is recommended before cardiac surgeries when catheters are inserted through leg arteries.
