An implantable CD is a small box-shaped electric device placed under the skin to deliver electric shocks to the heart with the help of leads in irregular heartbeats. They help to detect and regulate irregular arrhythmias. It is also a preventive treatment for sudden cardiac arrests by correcting slow or fast beating of the heart. This process is done via a small incision on the chest.
