Skin Biopsy
Skin biopsy removes cells or skin tissue for diagnostic purposes and removes minor abnormal tissue. Local anaesthesia is used to numb the target area. It is usually done in 3 ways:
- Razor: a razor is scraped over the skin ⅔ times to collect enough superficial layers for testing
- Punch: a circular tool that removes skin and inner layers
- Incisional: the blade is used to make an incision and remove the target skin area.
