Vitiligo Surgery
Vitiligo happens when skin cells die or do not function properly and stop producing melanin in patches. This gives a blotchy appearance to the skin and can make a person conscious if it is present on the face.
With advancing technology, Vitiligo Surgery is now minimally invasive and is of 2 major types:
- A skin patch is taken from the usual colour area and placed on the prepared vitiligo-affected site. This is done using derma abraders or lasers
- Melanin-producing cells are grafted to affected areas. (These are self-cultured cells prepared in the lab).
