BLS (Basic Life Support)
Basic Life Support is an emergent and immediate resuscitation that increases their chances of survival when given to the victims of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Healthcare providers and lay rescuers can learn BLS skills. The steps of BSS include:
- Recognizing SCA and peri-cardiac arrest problems and calling for a cardiac ambulance and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Providing CPR immediately
- Delivering a shock with AED
- Advanced Life Support.
Timely CPR and AED shock may increase the survival to 75% if given within the first 3 to 5 minutes of the collapse.
