APC & Thermal Coagulation

Argon plasma coagulation is a new method to achieve gastrointestinal hemostasis that has garnered much attention due to its successful outcome. It is a non-contact method to stop bleeding. The argon plasma uses gas inflamed by an electric spark, creating a plasma beam that burns off any tissue. APC is also used to treat airway bleeding, remove tissue blockage, and debride airway tumors and granulation tissue. It is more beneficial than laser as it’s cheaper, easier to use, multiple lesions can be treated simultaneously, and safe due to reduced penetration depth.
