Acute or chronic pancreatitis causes the formation of the pancreatic pseudocyst, which needs to be drained to avoid further complications. A cystogastrostomy is an endoscopic surgery that can be done as an outpatient procedure. An opening is made between the pancreatic pseudocyst and the stomach so that the cyst can quickly drain into the stomach, thus conserving the pancreatic juices that would have otherwise been lost.
