Esophageal Metal Stenting
Esophageal metal stenting occurs when the esophagus is narrowed or blocked due to benign tumors or cancer. First, a catheter is passed down the throat to the esophagus. Then, a stent(wire mesh, plastic, or silicon net) is placed and held to keep the esophagus dilated and remove any blockage. This helps the patient to swallow food more comfortably.
