A cataract is a condition in which the lens in the eye becomes cloudy, making the vision blurred. A cataract may happen due to ageing, injury, diabetes, or a congenital condition. An eye surgeon operates on the eye to remove cataracts. First, the area in the eye is numbed with an injection. Next, the surgeon replaces the cloudy lens with an artificial intraocular lens. Hospital admission is not required.
