Wound/ infection/ burns debridement
Debridement removes dead tissue and foreign material from a wound in the skin or burn. It helps in faster healing of the wound with less scarring. Medical or surgical procedures can do debridement.
The surgeon removes dead tissue with a sharp instrument, making a clean edge for healing, controls the bleeding, and applies a dressing. Then, depending upon the type of wound, a debridement is done in the operating room or bedside.
