Permcath is a long, flexible tube used by doctors to conduct hemodialysis. Hemodialysis is done for end-stage kidney disease or kidney failure. The doctors insert it in the vein in the neck or groin, tunnel it under the skin, and make it exit in the leg or thigh. Passing the catheter under the skin protects the individual from infection and keeps the tube stable. Permcath is also known as tunneled dialysis catheter.
