Brainstem disorders occur due to areas of the brain tissue suffering damage from trauma or disease. Brainstem disorders are generally treated in two stages. First, neurologists deal with immediate issues related to the initial brain injury, like reducing pressure inside the brain through surgery.
The survivor can participate in rehabilitation once the brain and body have been medically stabilized. This entails resolving any unintended consequences with the help of neuroplasticity. Although damaged nerve cells cannot be repaired by neuroplasticity, healthy nerve cells can acquire new skills to make up for the damaged nerve cells.
