Dexa scan is done in the patient's suspected of having osteoporosis and detects the grade and severity of osteoporosis. DEXA scan is regularly used by the endocrinologist to detect osteoporosis in patients having different endocrine pathologies and in perimenopausal and post menopausal women. It is also used to detect bone density in patients who are on long term steroid treatment. It is also useful to know improvement in the bone density after the treatment and whether treatment is required or not. Additionally our machine also can detect muscle and fat density in the body and body mass index (BMI). It is low dose radiation which usually does not have any adverse effects.
