Preventive healthcare refers to actions taken to prevent the onset or worsening of health problems. Under preventive healthcare, the Internal Medicine team of Aster Whitefield Hospital aims to detect and address potential health problems before they become serious or chronic conditions and to promote overall health and well-being.
Our preventive healthcare focuses on promoting health and preventing illness and disease through early detection, early treatment, and lifestyle changes that promote healthy living.
Preventive Health Care is provided by Aster Whitefield’s Internal medicine at various levels
Primary Prevention: This includes measures taken to prevent the occurrence of a disease or injury. Examples include vaccination programs, health education, and lifestyle changes such as healthy eating, regular exercise, and avoiding harmful behaviors like smoking or substance abuse.
Secondary Prevention: This involves detecting and treating a disease in its early stages before it becomes more serious. This includes screening programs, such as mammography to detect breast cancer, and blood pressure checks to identify hypertension, using blood thinners to prevent further strokes or heart attacks.
Tertiary Prevention: This includes measures taken to prevent complications and disabilities resulting from a disease or injury. Examples include rehabilitation programs, medication management, ongoing medical monitoring and care, skin and foot care.
Behavioral and Environmental Interventions: These interventions are designed by us to promote healthy behaviors and living conditions, such as reducing exposure to environmental toxins, promoting healthy eating habits, and encouraging physical activity.
