Diverticulum is a small pouch, formed in the lining of the large intestine. When these pouches become filled with bacteria or other infective organisms, they become inflamed and swollen, which is called Diverticulitis. Symptoms of diverticulitis can include abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea. In severe cases, the infection can spread to other parts of the body, including the bladder, kidney, or lungs.
