Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is a procedure which combines endoscopy and ultrasound to obtain images of the internal organs. It can be used to visualize the walls of the organ and for imaging the adjacent organs. Combined with doppler imaging the nearby blood vessels can also be evaluated. Endoscopic Ultrasound guided FNAC and biopsies can be performed under direct visualization. Its major application is in accuartestaging of malignancies. The technique is highly useful in evaluation of mediastinal nodes, pancreatic and lower CBD lesions etc. Therapeutic procedures like pancreatic cyst drainage and Cochlear Plexus Block can be done safety under Endoscopic Ultrasound guidance.
