Aster MIMS, Calicut is one of the few hospitals in Kerala with a department dedicated for comprehensive and evidence-based management of infectious diseases. The department offers expertise in the management of infections in the critically ill, difficult to treat infections with multi-drug resistant organisms, diagnosis and management of fever of unknown origin, bone and joint infections, various endemic infections as well as rare and exotic infections. Besides, travel medicine care and adult vaccination services are also provided at the center.
Beyond the clinical excellence – the department is also involved in academic and research activities in infectious diseases, including in antimicrobial stewardship, outbreak management and infection control.
