Pediatric Asthma Clinic at Aster MIMS was started in April 2010 to ensure evidence based standard treatment for children below 18 years of age with Asthma, including pulmonary function tests investigations. Initially clinic was functional on Wednesdays and now on request from parents of children with asthma we conduct clinic on Saturdays.
We follow GINA guidelines which are updated every year. A dedicated staff train's children and their parents regarding the use of devices in asthma like peak flowmeter, inhaler devices, nebulizers etc. We Keep a registry and case record for each child and monitor their growth and nutrition. We also keep the parents and the children informed regarding recent developments in Asthma.
Immunization advice is also given to parents. We educate them regarding the need of additional special vaccines. We provide personalized asthma action plan for children. Emergency services for exacerbation will be provided in coordination with, emergency department.
Asthma clinic works in co-ordination with other departments like Pulmonology, ENT, Cardiology etc. Parental education is the most valued activity of Pediatric Asthma Clinic.
