Dr. Edwin Francis

Dr. Edwin Francis is an accomplished paediatric cardiologist with over 2 decades of experience in Congenital and Structural heart diseases. Recipient of a gold medalist in MBBS from Government Medical College, Trichur, Dr Edwin went to pursue his MD pediatrics  as well as Diploma in Child Health from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Hospital & Medical College, Bombay University (1997-2000). He completed his DNB in Pediatrics in the year 2001, and he later did his DM and DNB in Cardiology from Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical sciences and Technology, Trivandrum in 2005.

Additional qualifications and trainings:

• Observership and training in Advanced Interventions at Boston Children’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School) April 2008
• Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology – (2000 – 2002), Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Cochin

As an ardent researcher, Dr Edwin has published several research papers in various peer-reviewed journals. He also participated and delivered guest lectures in 250+ conferences of national and international repute. Dr Edwin has been a part of organizing committee of PCSI 2008, i- FISCH (First Interactive Forum for Interventions in Structural and Congenital Heart Disease), and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Conference at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in October 2013. He was also instrumental in organizing a first-of-its-kind “Hands On Workshop” in teaching Pediatric Interventions at Amrita Hospital in association with Children’s Heart Link and Amplatzer/St.Jude. He has organised multiple interventional and echocardiography workshop. During Covid he conducted webinar series: SCIPS which was attended by by both national and international delegates. 

Before joining Aster Medcity Kochi, Dr Edwin was the head of the department of pediatric cardiology in Lisie Hospital, Kochi. He also worked in the department of Pediatric Cardiology in Amrita Institute of Medical sciences, Cochin at various capacities. For a short stint, he was invited to Adan Hospital, Ministry Hospital in Kuwait to initiate and establish pediatric cardiology programme continued as HOD and Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist.
