Senior Consultant - Neuropathology
Dr. Vani Santosh, a distinguished medical professional, serves as a Visiting Senior Consultant at Aster Medcity, Cochin. With a rich academic background, she is a former Senior Professor of Neuropathology and Dean of Neurosciences at the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore, India, where she superannuated in December 2022. Currently, Dr. Vani Santosh, holds prominent positions in various organizations, including being the President of the Neuropathology Society of India (NPSI) from 2023 to 2025 and the Secretary General of the Asian Oceanian Society of Neuropathology (AOSNP) from 2022 to 2025. She is also an active working member of the WHO-cIMPACT group.
Dr. Vani Santosh,has an illustrious history of leadership, having served as the President of the Indian Society of Neurooncology (2017-2018) and the Karnataka Neuroscience Academy (2016-2017). Recognized for her contributions to medical sciences, she is a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India, and a Fellow of the Indian College of Pathologists.
Her primary research focus lies in Neuro-oncology, where she has made seminal contributions to brain tumor research, particularly in gliomas. Dr. Vani Santosh, emphasizes translational research and biomarker discovery, demonstrating her commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient outcomes. Notably, she has headed six multi-institutional projects, including the 'Center of Excellence in Molecular Neuro-oncology,' funded by the Government of India.
Dr. Vani Santosh's, impact extends beyond academia, with over 250 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals and 22 book chapters to her credit. Her dedication to advancing medical science is underscored by the three patents she holds.
