Dr. Thejus Kallarikkandi

Dr. Thejus Kallarikkandi is a highly skilled and accomplished intensivist with extensive experience in critical care medicine. He is currently the Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Aster MIMS, Kottakkal. Dr. Thejus is recognized for establishing and leading critical care departments in various prestigious hospitals.

Dr. Thejus holds multiple advanced qualifications, including a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Respiratory Diseases, a Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (DTCD), and an Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (IDCCM). He has furthered his expertise by earning the European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC) and is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP).

In addition, Dr. Thejus has successfully completed the training course in ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) at La Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital, Paris, France.
His clinical acumen is complemented by his hands-on experience with advanced procedures such as percutaneous tracheostomy, bedside bronchoscopy, mechanical ventilation, and ECMO cannulation. Dr. Thejus is also proficient in point-of-care ultrasonography and has a keen interest in antibiotic stewardship and hemodynamic monitoring.

Throughout his career, Dr. Thejus has been instrumental in managing complex medical and surgical cases in multidisciplinary ICUs. His leadership has been pivotal in setting up and upgrading critical care units with state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Thejus is actively involved in academic activities, regularly conducting workshops on critical care ultrasonography and hemodynamic monitoring. He is also a dedicated teacher, guiding and mentoring residents and nursing staff.

Dr. Thejus is a member of several professional organizations, including the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, the European Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the European Respiratory Society.
