Dr Murali Krishna is a UK-trained psychiatrist with close to two decades of clinical experience in managing a wide range of mental health disorders, including addictions, across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
He specializes in mental health care for working-age and older adults and is trained in delivering cognitive behavioral therapy and cognitive stimulation therapies. Dr. Krishna is instrumental in designing and implementing psychiatric services in the UK and Mysore, India.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Krishna has conducted extensive mental health research in low- and middle-income countries like India. His interdisciplinary collaborations with leading scientists have enhanced studies with genetic, molecular, and environmental data unique to resource-poor settings.
As a member of multiple research consortia, he has significantly contributed to ‘big data’ providing opportunities for transcultural and global comparisons in areas such as healthy aging. Furthermore, Dr. Krishna has developed innovative mobile applications for diagnosing dementia and providing therapeutic support to patients' families.
Work experience
Dr. Murali Krishna began his medical career as a Pre-Registration House Officer at the University Medical School, Mysore, India, from March 1998 to April 1999.
Dr. Murali Krishna completed Resident Training in Emergency Medicine at GS Memorial Hospital, Mysore, India, from April 1999 to March 2000, followed by Basic Specialist Training in Psychiatry at the Cambridge and Mersey Deanery, Liverpool, UK, from August 2000 to February 2004.
He went on to pursue Higher Specialist Training in Adult and Old Age Psychiatry at Mersey Deanery, Liverpool, UK, from April 2004 to January 2007, after which he served as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age and Adult Psychiatry at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, North Wales, UK, from January 2007 to May 2011.
Dr. Murali Krishna served as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Welcome Research Fellow at CSI Holdsworth Memorial Hospital, Mysore, India, from May 2011 to November 2017, and has been working as a Consultant Psychiatrist and Senior Research Fellow at Viveka Hospital, Mysore, India, since April 2018.

Achievements
Dr. Murali Krishna's achievements include receiving the prestigious 2022-2023 Global Atlantic Brain Fellow Award from the Global Brain Health Institute, Dublin.
He was also awarded the Early Career Public Health Fellowship (2012-2016) from Welcome UK DBT India Alliance for his significant contributions to life course cognitive aging studies in Mysore.
Additionally, he earned a Merit Certificate (2010-2011) for his Master’s Degree in Health and Social Care Research from the University of Sheffield, UK.
