Dr. Akhil Deshmukh is a passionate and highly accomplished doctor with a rich background in Internal Medicine and Hepatology. He brings an in-depth expertise in diagnosing, managing, and treating a wide range of liver diseases. His dedication lies in delivering exceptional care to his patients, ensuring the highest standards of medical practice. He is a gold medalist and only distinction holder from Kerala University of Health Sciences with an MD in General Medicine during the exam year 2020. During his general medicine residency, he has actively contributed during Kerala floods, Nipah outbreak and COVID-19 pandemic. He has secured first prize in ID quiz in national infectious disease conference held at CMC, Vellore(2019). He also bagged first prize in neurology quiz in national neurology conference held at MES medical college, Mallapuram, Kerala.
Dr. Akhil Deshmukh completed his DM in Hepatology at the prestigious Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, where he was recognized with the Investigator Award at APASL 2024 held at Kyoto, Japan. At ILBS, he led key research projects, including the BETA-RESPONSE Study on non-invasive testing for variceal bleed prophylaxis, and studied the efficacy of simvastatin in hepatopulmonary syndrome.
He was recognized as the best outgoing student from the Department of Hepatology at ILBS and was awarded the gold medal in Hepatology, reflecting his exceptional academic performance and dedication to the field. He has also honed his skills in specialized procedures like gastrointestinal endoscopies and hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG). His contributions to hepatology, both in clinical practice and research, reflect his dedication to improving patient outcomes and advancing the field.
