Dr. K M Mathew is an expert in rehabilitation and long-term management of complex spinal / brain injuries. The first doctor at the NHS United Kingdom to successfully implant advanced Ottoback FES electrode and stimulation system, Dr. K M Mathew headed the Specialised Rehabilitation Services Directorate of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, which included the Spinal Cord Injuries Centre, Head Injuries Centre, Prosthetics & Orthotics Centre and Gait Analysis Lab, for over half a decade.His areas of special interest include long-term management of spinal cord injuries and rehabilitation plans for patients who have undergone deformity correction surgery and tendon transfers, pressure sore repair and implantation of electrodes for Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and pumps for spasticity.
