Smile Train
Cleft lip and palate is the most common congenital face defect affecting large number of babies around the globe. Millions of children around the world are suffering from untreated clefts. Most cannot eat or speak properly and are often unable to attend the school or to hold a job.
A cleft can be defined as a gap or split in the upper lip and/or roof of the mouth (palate) and the gap is there because parts of the baby’s face didn’t join together properly during development in the womb.
