What is a Genetic Disorder?
A genetic disorder is a disease that is caused by a change in a person's DNA. DNA is the molecule that contains all of the genetic information in a cell. Genetic disorders can be inherited from parents or they can be caused by new mutations. Some examples of genetic disorders include cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, and Huntington's disease. Genetic disorders can cause a variety of symptoms, depending on the disorder. Some genetic disorders can be treated with medication or surgery.
