Kochi: Aimed at helping individuals with amputations and their families to meet the challenges they face and assist them in leading an independent and healthy lifestyle, Aster Medcity has launched Amputee Clinic. The comprehensive clinic led by a trained Physiatrist, a medical doctor specialized in rehabilitation medicine, offer services of physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologist, nurses, prosthetists and orthotists. They will work with the patient and their family at different stages of the rehabilitation.
“Our goal is to help the patient achieve their optimum level of physical independence. Rehabilitation begins even before the patient undergoes an amputation. Our team will educate the patient on what to expect in terms of pain, recovery, rehabilitation and their expected functional status,” said Dr. K. M. Mathew, Senior Consultant, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Aster Medcity.
Amputee Clinic at Aster Medcity offers comprehensive services such as initial rehabilitation evaluation, integrated plan of care, design of physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT), close physician follow up, pain management and psychological support services. The clinic will function on every Tuesday from 2 PM.
