The first anniversary of ‘People Helping People’ organ transplant support group was celebrated at Aster Medcity on World Liver Day, 19 April 2018. Led by an expert transplant team, the initiative aims to offer emotional support, information, and education on all aspects of organ transplant to organ recipients, donors, patients listed for transplant, their family members and caregivers by providing an open forum interactive platform for sharing real life experiences. Such interactions not only build confidence in patients and help them cope up with fear, concern and anxiety related to the surgery, but also provides emotional support and better understanding/ solutions to concerns of family members. With a mix of people in different stages of pre and post transplants, the group provides practical, accurate and reliable information on what to expect, what to do and what to be careful about to its members.
The anniversary celebrations was inaugurated by world-renowned athlete Ms. Anju Bobby George, in the presence of Commander Jelson Kavalakkat (Retd.), Chief Operating Officer and Dr. Mathew Jacob, Consultant, Hepato Pancreato Biliary & Abdominal Multi-Organ Transplant, Aster Medcity.
