Kochi: November 11, 2017: This weekend saw Aster Medicty hosting a unique get-together ‘Born2Live’ for children who had been admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for serious illnesses and those who are undergoing or have undergone special treatment in hospitals for critical diseases or health conditions. The children were felicitated as our very own small superheroes who have successfully fought their medical conditions, emerging stronger.
Felicitating the little warriors, Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman & Managing Director, Aster DM Healthcare said, “We are here today to celebrate life with these children and their parents. They have come through challenges that life has thrown at them with a smile on their face. These little superheroes have a lot to teach us all about life. We are proud to have played a part in helping them fight their illness and bringing them back to health.” Govind Padmasoorya, television presenter and film actor was also present in this function.
The get-together gave the parents of these children the opportunity to interact and share experiences with other parents in similar situations. Parents face a lot of stress as the treatment is long drawn and very specialized with the children requiring personal attention. Initiatives like Born2Live give the parents an opportunity to exchange and get information in an informal set-up while their children get to enjoy and have fun.
Celebrations began with the cutting of a cake. An initial interaction between all the children, parents and medical team was followed by an entertainment program with music and dance. The parents rejoiced with the doctors and other staff members of Aster Medcity in a celebration of life!
